Transitional Class
The transitional classroom is designed for our younger children. In this room, our program is based upon the child’s interests and skills. Our teachers observe, listen and pay close attention to how the children respond to experiences, and then build upon what they are observing. In doing so, the teachers build relationships with the children, and use every experience as a learning opportunity. Engaging with the children helps foster language, it builds basic trust, and encourages a sense of personal worth. Plan on your child getting dirty and having lots of fun in this room, we encourage it!
Preschool Threes
In the three year old room, we continue with the emergent style of teaching. Our teacher works with the children to continue building upon the basic skills the child has been developing. The children focus on learning their communication skills, helping to further develop their sense of self, and the awareness of others around them. This awareness expands into the ability to learn to sit at circle time, and how to work with others on projects, in outdoor play and in other situations throughout their day. Part of what we encourage is self-sufficiency. We practice this by allowing the child to do things for themselves, such as putting on their own shoes, doing their own projects, and cleaning up after themselves after a project or after meal time. The children also get the basics of academics, this learning also happens throughout the day as they discover and play.
Preschool Fours
This class is preparing your child for the classroom. While it is still considered emergent curriculum, our teacher focuses more on what your child is to expect when they start school. We highly encourage the children to be here on time every day, as this class is more structured. Our teacher works with the children to encourage them to learn their numbers and letters, to help them write their names and the importance of learning to work together. They also work on fun art projects, cooking, and lots of outdoor play.
